I brought my 93 Yj into the dealer for a parking brake recall, and got bored so I test drove an '03 Wrangler X. And I LOVE it. The 4.0 has so much more power than my wimpy 10 year old 4-banger. Test driving this jeep has definately made up my mind. At the end of the summer I am going to buy an '03 X. That was the good news. The bad news is that the dealer, at my request, found a few things wrong wiht my current jeep. 1. My brake master cylinder has a leak which is why I have had a spongy pedal for the past month. How hard is this to fix? Ill prob do it myself to save some money. 2. my exhaust manifold has a leak. I'm not sure where, but how hard is this to fix and can I use some JB weld or something on it? 3. my drivers side axle seal, which I had replaced 2 months ago when I bent an axle shaft is now leaking. I'm not going to fix that myself, I'm just gonna make my mechanic fix it. sorry for the length, but hey once arthiritis sets in in about 30 years or so you wont have to put up wiht my long posts anymore.

yeah i got an '03 X commin in the mail too. I have an '02 SE and hated it for the past year just needs more power. so when I lift and junk i'll have the power i'sa need. I just really really hate the '03 seats. If your repairs are costly i'd say wait it out and buy the X and have the YJ as a fun repair project or pass it down. Just had to add this..I think you should go for the sport and get the dana 44 rear. I think the price differnce isn't much mayhap 1G or so and ya get them full doors i don't like so much..wish i thought of it before i ordered mine

The 4bangers are prone to broken exhaust manifold studs, the front and rear studs most commonly. The stealership will fix it for free if you're within the 8yr/80,000mi. cutoff, which I know you're not. [addsig]

I had the Parking Brake recall done a few months ago... Right afterwards, my Jeep® started dying... I took it back to them and they told me nothing about the parking brake would cause that... They were gonna charge me $68 dollars an hour to trace the electrics... We, I told em to *$&@( Off!!! So, my dad (an electrician) came and helped me trace the problem... Guess what??? Then they put the new parking brake in, they forgot/missed the ground wire to the ignition fuse box under the hood is grounded on the parking brake mounting bolt... GRRRR!!!

So, if your Jeep® starts dying for no reason after the recall fix, look there...[addsig]
