YJ 6" Skyjacker Monolinear Kit

Look at the pricetag :shock:
off road, must flex like crazy considering it is only one spring. on-road, might be a little bouncy, but a good quality shock can solve some of that.
Also loof at the other costs associated with this lift. $1500 for the kit

Let's say you were going to go with a normal Skyjacker 4" lift. $600. By the time you add the towbar front shackles, boomerang rear shackles, shocks, pitman arm, brake lines, extended track bar, and anti-swaybar disconnects....the $1300 that the monolinear kit goes for doesn't seem that bad to me considering the added 2" of lift and the improved ride, handling, and flex.
I might be wrong and regret it later, but my next YJ WILL have this kit under it. If I had the extra money and hadn't already put the 4" on the CJ, I'd have probably set it up with one. If this kit works as well as I have heard it does and from the little I've seen of it, it's what I've been wanting for years. I like to stay spring-under. The extra lift is much needed, and the monoleaf will flex more than a muti-leaf at that much lift.

It'd have to be really stiff in order to avoid saggind quickly. It's a tradeoff when going with only one leaf, if you want it to flex easily it will sag, quick. Multiple thinner leafs will flex more and retain thier original shape longer.

Leaf srpings are as old as horse drawn buggys. Don't ya think that this monolinear spring is kind od reinventing the wheel? I'm pretty skeptical of the reliability factor. Several leaves together need to bend slightly and slide amongst each other. One leaf would need to bend like crazy for good flex. That can't hold up very long under alot of offroad use. I could be wrong, but it sure seems pretty simple.

hey sorry i took so long to notice this post haha. But i love my kit, I think it flexes well. It flexes more than I expected and with 35's I do rub on the stock fenders sometimes. You can solve that problem with extended flares maybe, but I like the way the tires stick out like crazy. I'm going to be putting a body lift on soon to allow for more flex then I'll take some flexing pictures for you guys. As far as stiffness I really don't think it's that bad. I think the ride and handling is pretty good considering they are big 6'' mono springs. My friend has 4'' superlift springs on his YJ and his jeep rides just about the same I think.
As far as the bad stuff goes, the directions in the kit were pretty bad. It was my first time installing a lift kit and these directions didn't help much. Also if you are going to be on the rocks a lot I wouldn't really recommend it. On the rocks it tends to hop a little, but I mostly stay in the mud, and when I do go for the rocks I don't mind it to much.
I think with a set of good shocks you would really be surprised with the ride of this kit. And I would definitly go with the SYE, but I am still saving for one and only have shims and lowered transfer case so you can imagine the vibrations.
This is the first lift kit I've ever put on, (also my first jeep) So I wish I could compare it to some others, but I hope I've been helpful.

There is a YJ with that set up here in Jersey, Belmar to be exact. It's been like that for a while now, I drive by to look every once in a while and it doesn't seem to be sagging at all... but then again I never see any signs of it being offroad either.

Monoleaf springs have been around longer than multileafs have.
I know several drag cars that are wearing factory GM monoleaf rear springs with no sagging. My Corvette had ONE transverse mounted fiberglass monoleaf that supported the whole rear of the car. This isn't new technology, it's just new to this type of application.

Surprisingly, I just found out that my wife's Caravan has that type of springs on the back of it. I guess my assumptions could be way off. I still don't know that I would buy that kit, but that spring style is far more common than I was aware of.
