either way... SYE or not... it is still a good idea to turn the pinion toward the Tcase... The way a CV shaft works is by using two Ujoints in one knuckle... and these are perfectly balanced by design... but because there is another joint yet in the driveline, there still can be imbalances, and can result in vibration... it is less likely to happen with a cv style shaft, but is still a possibility... and the less that extra joint has to bend, the less chancd you will have of overstressing the joint, and the better performance and strength you will get from it... so... either way... point that pinion up
