this tool skrews on to the intake manifold so that you can hook on to it and lift the engine out. what is this part called and where can I find it??

In the past I have used a bolt,washer,and a chain.All found at your local hardware store.

I beleive the technical name for it is a "Hoist anchors". You can find them at your local automotive parts house in different configurations. Some with chains already attached to them and some with an adjustable load equalizer bar.

oh, and what you are trying to explain has a couple names;
carb plate, lift plate, engine lift plate.

if your asking about this thing above its a anchor mount that bolts up to the intake manifold
easy to make a home made one also if you have welding experience

I trust a chain that's bolted to at least the steel head, before I trust a few 5/16" studs that are screwed into aluminum. I know these things are used by many folks, but V8's are heavy.
