RE: Greasable Vs. Non-greasable

I ordered a Hell Creek 4" TJ lift today and I will have it by this weekend...

Can I put this on myself? ... I have a place to do it and probably all the tools...
Do I need a spring compressor ? Can't I just lower the axles to get the new coils under there or is that wishful thinking?

I did my 4" skyjacker by myself. You can just lower the axles down to get the springs out but also using the spring compressor does help some though, might want to try both.

Lets see the pictures as soo as your done.

You can get the springs in without compressors, but it's a pain and somewhat dangerous. I think you can rent the compressors from the 'zone for free, with a refundable deposit.

Once the swaybar is disconnected and the axle is at full droop, disconnect the front track bar at the lower mount and the axle will come down a little further. You can pick up one end of the axle slightly to get the other end to droop more.

RE: Greasable Vs. Non-greasable

Rent or buy spring compressors, they'll be worth it - just take your time and use common sense. Stored energy is a dangerous thing and should be respected.

Getting the old ones out without them will be easy, but popping a 4" lift coil in there would be difficult without the compressors. You could drop the lower control arms from the axle to get even more droop, but the compressers will prove easier.

You don't need air tools. I didn't on my YJ or my XJ

Thanks..

About how much is it to "rent" a spring compressor? Sound like that's what Ill be doing...Is this a 1 day project
or should I start Friday night to be done by Sunday?

Already found someone to buy the old 2" springs for $100.. told him I'd help put them in anyway..

RE: Check out my new CarDomain Site!

It really is a one day job, but if it is your first take your time and another dat if needed.

What Da Heck Is It?

got the lift in from Hell Creek.. ended up being a rough country.. (still rides better than the 2.5" pro comp) ...I installed in about 14 hrs with a bit of wasted time...turned out great
didnt need the spring compressors .. but I rented them anyway ($50) ...
I told the guy who is buying my old springs I would help him for some beer maybe, but this has changed my mind ...too much work ..

getting 33" tires friday ...

How do I put pictures on here like you guys?

14 hours.. ouch... I'm surprised, You should have been able to do the lift in less than half that.
