if you go for a nitrous set up. it will be pressurized. nitro methane would go in the gas tank (liquid, and a different monster all together).
they say a shot thats 25% of your base HP is "safe". shot size is regulated by the size of the nozzle. 50 shot nozzles are the easiest to find, anything smaller will be a tough find.
now assuming you dont have a 200 horse 4 banger (in a jeep i dont think im stretching too far) a 50 is going to cause a lil havoc in that motor. more times than not. damage is caused by the engine leaning out too much when the nirtous is enhancing th burn.
so how do you get around it.
1) a solenoid on the throttle, so you can only hit the squeeze (nitrous) when you are @ full throttle.
2) run what is called a "WET" nitrous set up. an additional nozzle must be installed next to the nitrous nozzle. the 2nd nozzle provides regular ol gas fuel. fuel can be T'd off from the regular fuel rail. you can just tap nitrous directly into a fuel rail and make your own sneaky pete wet set up. it will get you past the techs at the track. but your injectors will NOT like you for it.
if your looking for a quick easy bolt on to go out and get in trouble with. just do for a 35 dry shot. plumbed into your air intake, use only at full throttle end of 2nd and 3rd gear.
most newer set ups dont have the fast and furious button to hit anymore as they are all automatic. turn it on, hit the gas, i prefer the aded safety and human control of when that funny gas goes in.
what size and where would you locate the tank? smaller more concealed is always nice, but more trips to have it filled are needed. if you have the room for a larger tank. go for it. no need to be afraid. by itself nitrous is not flamable, it is merely a catalyst.
decent brands..... good ol NOS is one. ZEX another (some pals have used with decent success). I prefer the edelbrock sneaky pete set up, as the local track dosent alow the bottle fed at the fun drags. (the only night i can ever make it). and its a pretty simple no frills set up, less to go wrong.
