Put one of those "magic" mufflers that the tuner guys use.. they seem to make tons of horsepower..or at least make alot of...sound and stuff:lol:

Seriously..can't help on the 2.5 problem without recomending a swap.

But want to welcome you to Jeepz!!

There's lots of things you can do that make a little difference, but all together they help out.

Hmmm, cheap...

Remove the factory airflow restrictor, put a "drop in" K&N filter in, change out the mechanical clutch driven fan for an electric one (cheap if you use a junkyard fan from a Taurus, about $200 to do a flex-a-lite FLX475), Use synthetics in the diffs, transmission, and transfer case

Not as cheap...
Cat-back exhaust, 4.0L throttle body (again junkyard ;) ), roller rockers,

Gears really are the correct solution though.

TC's got it right.......gears! Other than that, a V8 would add tons of power, of course!!:D Hey, from a fellow 4-banger, just get 'er off the pavement and the little 4 does just fine.

Well even though gears are the best solution, they are not cheap like you want. Put a K&N in the stock box, do a good tune with quality stuff, use synthetics like TC suggested, and drive it like you stole it. U can get a 4.0 throttle body for real cheap ($50-$60), though I dont think they make an enormous difference, but then again, nothing on the 2.5 does.

I pulled the intake restrictor tube, added a Flex-a-Lite electric fan, put in some Bosch Platinum Plus4 plugs, and just ordered a throttle body spacer. Without the spacer on, I've seen a gain in mileage of around 5 or 6 mpg, and I'd guess a handful of horsies. Nothing major, but definitely noticeable.

the electric fan mod is the best bang for the buck

lots of stickers too.

Oooh, yeah, I forgot about the stickers!! I've got a GPS sticker, a Flex-a-Lite Sticker, a Quadratech sticker, a Dale Jr. sticker, and a Dale Jarrett sticker on my rig....musta added at least 100 hp with those babies!!

Dang if Folger's didn't stop making tin coffee cans, though. I tried the plastic ones for my exhaust, but they kept melting down. Instead of sounding like a violent fart, they sounded more like a sick cow having calves......:?
