It dont wanna start

Ok i got an 88' wrangler 258. it started cuttin out one day then a loud "POP" and it died. tried to start it up again and "POP" again. so i went up and got my truck and towed it home. Now lookin at it im stumped to what the problem might be. if you turn the key and leave it in the "start" position it runs, but release the key and it dies. me and my dad replaced the fuel pump, parts to the distributor, checked the plugs, carb is doin great, fuel filter is good, nothin wrong with the cat converter, and the coil is good. any ideas would be very appreciated, thanx

Well the thing'll run if you have the key turned to "start" but once you let it go it dies. after a hard days work on it the only thing we can think of is the resistance wire, its showing a lot more resistance then the book says it should. thanx

have you checked the ignition switch? sounds like that may be the culprit if it stays on in "start"

Ok so the ignition switch is right under the das on the steering colum right?? its white and has a big wad of of wires goin into it right?? thats the only thing i've found that resembles it. thanx

Ok so i replaced the ignition switch and the ignition module and she STILL wont run, i am completely and uterly stumped, lol. well any help would help
