Loud noise / sharp jerk when shifting

Ok,

I just got done putting in a 350 chevy into my jeep using a bellhousing adapter kit, chevy clutch, jeep trans, it is using the short gm throwout bearing that came with the clutch kit.

Pushing the clutch in all the way to the floor will not completly release the clutch! The adjustment linkage is adjusted all the way out.

Should I lengthen that threaded adjustment rod or pull the transmission and get the longer gm throwout bearing(I really dont want to)?

any other ideas?

??? Unfortunatly I would advise the route your trying to avoid, but.... I have never swapped the threaded rod for a longer unit. If it works, then yippy, the only thing I en-vision is that when you go to push your clutch in, it will engage almost instantly as your foot is put on the pedal and won't full dis-engage until the pedal is al the way to the floor! But hey, it will work!

well after pulling the trans out, the throwout bearing still wouldn't work, so i called advance adapters to find out a 3 finger style diaphram on the pressure plate can not be used, it must be a raised diaphram style pressure plate.

So after returning the clutch, and getting the correct one it works. What do you know when you buy the right parts it works, never would have thought of that

Congratulations! I know the feeling........I tend to ignore installation instructions 'til I get myself all jammed up (Hey, this can't be THAT complicated!) :)
