hello,
Odrered the 4" std Rubicon Exp lift, and a drop pitman. Now I need tires.
Lift says will accomodate 33x12.5. debating on 33 x 12.5 or 32 x 11.5 (BFG ATKO - $10/tire difference) Cant fathom that. I currently have little stock canyon rims on 30x9.5s and no lift.

Am going to run into pwr steering probs?

Will I wear out the pump that has 200K on it already?

Will it slow down the Jeep, i do 40 miles of of HWY driving/day.

What else do I need to be concerned with wearing out sooner than expected with these much bigger tires and 4" higher ride height?

thanks[/i]

I don't think you will have a problem with the pump, if anything it will be the Steering box. I drove my YJ with 36x14.5 tires with a stock pump and box for over a year. The box was eventually in a loosing battle, so i recently upgraded to an AGR steering box, it is built to handle the larger tires. But 33s should be fine with the stock stuff. I would just let it go until you see the steering box leaking.

Oh by the way my jeep has got 207k on it!

Yes your jeep will be slower due to the larger tires and your low gear ratio.

Go with the 33", there isn't that much of a difference between the two.

You'll be slower, nothing regearing won't fix. It's a long list ;)

One thing to consider is the BFG AT/KO in a 33x10.50x15. They are one of the few tire co's that make them that size. A guy I work with just put a set on his XJ and they look pretty sweet.

They'll give you a bit better performance and gas mileage (than a 12.50) due to less wind AND rolling resistance. They should also be a little cheaper ;) Probably even less rolling mass than the 32x11.50's but still get the extra 1" of tire. Got to think of clearance Clarence.

Good choice on the lift.

Get yourself an upgraded steering stabilizer to fit in the stock location. The stock one has got to be wore out by now and is too weak for 33's anyway.

RE: Why Kerry isn

If you plan on keeping those stock rims, you need to get the skinnier tires. 12" wide tires on stock rims will rub your leafs (assuming YJ). I will also backup TC on the BFG 33x10.50 recommendation. In fact, I roll on 33x10.50 BFG mud-terrains and love em. The skinnier tires are better for 4cylinders (like me!) But if you got the 4.0 (or 4.2), I would suggest getting new rims with more backspacing and go with the 12.50 wide tires. Here's a picture of my 33x10.50s in Uwharrie NF.
