My roommate just told me he has a fullsize 8.8 out of a early 90's F-150 and he only wants 100 bucks for it. how much wider than the D35 is the fullsize 8.8? I don't think i can pass this one up. and by the way i have a YJ

It's quite a bit wider than the D35, so I'd pass it up unless you plan on adding wheel spacers to the front to even things out. Can you measure it WMS to WMS (Wheel Mounting Surface)?

I can't measure it right now because its back at home and im at school but im goin home labor day so ill measure it then. How hard is it to cut one of those things?

You'll have to narrow it. It's a 1/2 ton rear and not really worth the trouble. Shortening the housing is easy, hack the tubes off to the right length and weld new ends on, but you'll have to send the shafts out and have them cut and resplined. I don't know how you would deal with the C clips after that, I guess you could use ford 9" ends and eliminate the C clips completely since there won't be a groove on the ends of the shaft to accept them anymore unless whoever cuts the splines can machine new ones on there. Maybe you could cut the housing down and use the guts from an Explorer 8.8", but then why not just use an Explorer 8.8" in the first place?

I'd pass on it.

FYI

I would pass on it too! you can get a explorer 8.8 and build it for the same price of simply shortening the full size one.

amm what Junk Pile said!
