Finally got the other wheel joint taken care of.. with some

well.. a few days ago, I did my first ever wheel joint replacement.. wasn't so bad, so yesterday, I decided to go for the other. And of course, something had to go wrong. when I went to pull the hub off, I ended up pulling apart by wheel bearing, the whole assembly pulled apart in 2... I eventually got the hind part off with a hammer and some various wedge style tools. it looked pretty easy to press back together, but i figured it may not be a smart idea... Called autozone, nope, not paying $100+ for another... so I went and pulled one off my cherokee axle that is laying around. The hub was a little different, but it seemed to fit right, so i kept with it... now we get no more clicks when driving, and no more annoying snaps when turning in 4wd[addsig]

You definately don't want to use any type of puller to remove the hub, a friend of mine also found out by pulling it in half.

After backing out the three 13mm 12pt. bolts by 1/4" that hold the hub on, I hit them with a punch and hammer in the middle of the bolt head. Be careful not to damage the bolt head. This will slowly work the hub out of the knuckle by moving in 1/8" or 1/4" increments.

It's ridiculous how much a new hub costs, around $125 here. Cheaper to pick up a spare axle for $50 to $100 and have spare hubs, shafts, spider gears, etc. :-D [addsig]
