Convert old CJ7 to Manual Choke?

I have a 79 Jeep CJ7, 258, with a Weber carb that my son and I recently rebuilt with a kit. Runs great. Problem... its cold here in Albuquerque and the jeep sits outside. The coil/spring loaded choke doesn't seem to work worth a darn. My thought is to convert it to a manual choke with a little hand cable that you take care of yourself. Simple elegance. Any advice, parts I could/should get?
Or, am I out in left field?

I've done this before just not with a Weber. The cables are available from most parts stores, or at least they use to be. They come in different lengths so do a rough estimate of what you will need based on placement of the knob so you don’t have too much extra cable to mess with. I don't think I had to fab anything up because the kit comes with a bunch of small parts but I did need to make changes at the eclectic choke that was on the Holley replacement carb I had on an AMC 304.

napa carries a nice kit and its only like $20. easy to install and as good little instuction sheet with step by step illistrations to help with a smooth easy install just tell them what you want thell hook you up with the right kit

:yeah-that:

but the last one I did was around 5 bucks. (guess it's been a few years, I was wearing platform shoes and polyester) :shades:

The Weber requires the small cup, like 1-7/8". Most all over the counter kits will have both the large (2-1/8")and small cup included whereas some only have the large cup. Simple and straight forward as mentioned. Here are photos of an install with a homemade bracket attached onto the filter housing.

My gratitude to y'all for your helpful responses! Turns out that I actually have the original Carter 2bbl Carb on it. But, it looks to me like the kit from NAPA is just what I need anyway. I will check it out tomorrow. Thanks again.
