Cats. on or off

RE: NW event

First of all, welcome!!!

2nd, what year is your Jeep? Do you have any oxygen sensors or anything like that?

F$ - JEEP CHEROKEE IDLE SPEED CONTROL SENSOR MOTOR 2.5L 4.0L

hmmm a 95, its got oxygen sensors, i wouldnt suggest taking the cats off. they may actually make ur jeep run worse and cause the check engine light to stay on, unless the cats are cloged or they have broken apart and are rattling, u would jsut be better off replacing them with high flow cats. if you had an older jeep with out oxygen sensors and none of all that fancy engine management stuff i would say gut them out but newer jeeps can run reall crapy with out cats.

RE: Re: RE: Help i might be losing my jeep..

I agree with Jeepin916.

Leave the cats on. You can get aftermarket ones if you want something else though

RE: WTB: TPS IAC VALVE GROMMETS

The oxygen sensor is only a problem if it's after the cat, if it's pre-cat then you'll be fine. There are ways around it even if the sensor is after it. I wouldn't waste my money on a high flow cat, a regular flow cat, or any flow cat. Yank it if you don't need it to pass an inspection test. You can leave it in place and just gut it or sleeve it if you have visual inspections where you live.

The o2 sensor is pre-cat in '95, so you won't have any problems with the check engine light or the engine running poorly if you remove the catalytic converter.

Most all late-model converters like your '95 are not very restrictive, you don't gain much by removing them unless they're clogged.

www.jcw.com has the Catco converter for around $60, it's considered a high-flow model. Good if you want a high-flow cat and get smog tested.

An 02 model doesn't have an after cat sensor? :?

If it really doesn't have the downstream sensor then I don't see any reason you would have a problem.

RE: Wiper Motor replacement on 94 Cherokee Sport

An '02 TJ has an o2 sensor after the cat, and you'll get a MIL and poor performance by removing the catalytic converter.

better look at an 02 wrangler exhaust system more closely.
i dont know if this will matter but mine is a apex wrangler
all of my sensors are before and after the precats, there is none near the main converter.
