Automatic choke Carter Carb

Just bought a 89 YJ . Previous owner had just isnstalled new Carter DBL Carb. 4.2 Engine. The choke goes on when cold and the engine starts right up and is on fast idle. As it warms the choke does not move. When it goes off fast idle the choke closes all the way and floods out the engine. In other words the automatic choke is working backwards. Any suggestions of what is wrong? Help is appreciated! Can't drive because it floods out within the first mile.:???:

Solved the problem. Choke spring for some unknown reason was placed in the choke backwards. So when the engine got warm it slammed that choke plate closed and you were dead. Previous owner had just bought new Carter Carb, wish he had bought and different brand. He had a mechanic install new carb. One would assume carb from factory would have choke assembled correctly. So he must have reversed directions.
