    1989 YJ Front Brake question

<'89 YJs had a different bearing set-up >'90s had an integral hub/bearing assy which might be the reason. Terry, any insight to this?

    D35 Axle tube leaking

After rebuilding my rear brakes (yet again) I discovered that my driver side axle tube was leaking gear oil a bit. This is non c-clip D35. I pulled the axle to see where it was coming from. The inner seal was pretty mangled so I decided to replace it. Finding the seal was a P.I.T.A for some...

    clutch help

(Transmission fluid fill) This is a fun one. If you have the Peugeot (which is identified by a split case held together by 8 bolts) then on the passenger side, there will be a bolt with a square hole that will look like a 3/8" extension bar will fit in - it won't which sucks! What I did was...

    clutch help

The bleeder valve will be on the driver side of the transmission where two tubes come out. If you have the the earlier '89 with the POS Peugeot trans or the more desirable AX15, they should both be on the same side. Bleeding is straight forward just as bleeding brakes. Use fresh DOT 3 and...

    Column Rebuild Problem

The GM column is hella common and can be found in any junkyard. If you can get one out without boogerin' it up, I'd do that.

1987 YJ 6 cylinder new Weber 34 carb won't start

With a Weber, make sure that you use loc-tite for the adapter-to-manifold bolts as they have a tendency to back out. You may have a serious vacuum leak somewhere. The black stuff on the plugs is most likely from dumping fuel down the throat and not burning fully (sorry, pointing out the...

    Oil leak near starter

Don't know if ya fixed this problem yet, Oil pressue senders with the 2-prong type connectors leak all the time. This will be behind the dipstick towards the lower end of the block. Pull the connector off and see if it's saturated w/ oil. If it is, that's most likely your problem. I don't...

    YJ signal issues

I'm not exactly sure on LED conversion cuz I haven't done it yet, but I've had the exact experience with a 92 YJ. Jeep's lights are run in series which means that if one light is out or connection broken, the whole shebang don't work. Check all lights to include back up, side etc, and...

    Missing Rear Track Bar

X2. Track bars are off mine as well. Much better flex without them which is a big improvement with any leaf sprung Jeep.

how can i make power with a 4.2

REALISTICALLY ... I would keep your 4.2L if it's not blowing smoke to bad from rings/valves, for budget reasons. A Weber is good so long as you aren't in a smog state (I don't know what Canada's smog laws are). If you don't have to worry about smog, then remove the AIR tubes/pump as applicable...

Do throttle body spacers really work?

Just curious as to where you were able to find a TBS for a Renix system. To the best of my searching, I've been unable to find one.

    89 YJ stalling problem

If you have the regular stock coil then it will be a "U" shaped harness that clips onto the top. To remove, just pull the harness toward you and it slides right off. If it's hard to remove, take a flat head screwdriver and gently wedge it between the coil wire connector and harness and push it...

    TFI ignition upgrade

For those that are just lazy and want everything handed to them (like me!) I found a company that actually sells the "kit" for a little more than what you'd pay if you had to go to an auto parts store and cobble it together yourself. This kit comes with dummy proof instructions (speaking from...

    Carburetor Woes

I still have my old carter w/ most of the lines still attached. I will take a look at it tonight and see if I can figure it out. BTW, make sure that your EGR, CTO and PCV are on "ported" vacuum and NOT manifold. This will cause the engine to run terrible (speaking from experience).

    engine keeps dieing on me

I agree w/ BH. I've had a similiar situation where my cat was a melted brick and it would block up under heat. Have someone at the tailpipe while you rev it to see if there is good airflow coming from the exhaust. JEEP = Just Expect Every Problem
