HAHA... I've done that because the jack stand wouldn't go low enough to get under the stupid VW jack height
 
I do the bench press method, works for me with the ax 15 and np 231, when to do it with a np 205, woops, cast IRON housing, a little heavier.
 

I have never used a special lift. Floor jacks have always worked fine for me.
 
i don;t have a big floor jack..i can;t find any in the silly town...

i got it in...honetly i don;t knwo why i didn;t think of it before...ususally if there are two people i just leave the transfercase on...i seperated them after getting frustrated...which is somethin i had never done...and it was nearly as awkward to pick up...now i just need to get my driveshafts from work and bleed the clutch and see what happens...

that rope idea is a really good idea...looks like there are many brains here...anad a few people willin to lend it out...first jeep board i have been to with both...thanks guys

be prepared for more dumb questions...O.o

i'll be honest and i'll say that I can't get both off the ground...

yeah that's the one i'm talkin... 1973 super beetle... i seriously don't think i'll be getting the entire thing off the ground, access to them is rare.. haha
