U-joints

I'm going to get some custom made driveshafts soon, and am going to have to decide what size u-joint to go with. The Jeep is going to have a ~330lb/ft stroker turning 35" tires with lockers, and will see some hard wheeling. Any recommendations on u-joint sizes? The rear will be a CV if it makes a difference.

1350 series, but you may be limited to 1310 in the double-cardan end of the CV shaft.

If you are keeping the D44's then you will be ok with the 1310's. Use a Neapco Brute Force joint or the Spicer Life Joint. The reason I say 1310 is that my driveshaft joints outlasted D44 outers anyway. In fact, my 1310 joints outlasted the front output on my Atlas.

If your going to up grade your u-joint from the 1310 think of the 1410 joints, they are capable of a larger drive angle than the 1350's but not quite as much as teh 1310. The yokes are about 110 bucks apiece though. The 1410s should never break on ya even with the stroker.

$110 a piece is a bit much for my wallet...ouch! I just realized though, if part of the drivetrain broke, I'd rather it be a ujoint than something like an axle or yoke...or transfercase output shaft, lol. I do plan on eventually running 33 spline mosers in the rear though... Anybody know what size u-joint the scout axles use stock? It would be nice if the ujoints were a little weaker than the rest of the drivetrain, but not a whole lot...hmmm....

I have enough torque going through my jeep in low range to rival whatever your stroker is gonna put out and I still have yet to blow a 1310. I've broken just about everything else including the transmission, 1310 is plenty.
