reading another thread, i have seen the light. a turbo charged four banger. does anyone know where i might be able to get a parts list, or build instructions for this? i have found a used turbo out of a subaru impreza at a good price.

parts will not be hard... just have to know if the turbo is self oiled, or oiled by the motor... then just mounting and plumbing

My friend installed a turbo on his lancer...pain in the ..... Getting the air/fuel mix has been a nightmare for him, the new ESC has been a nightmare not getting the fuel maps to work right. Broke 3 out of 4 pistons. I say go for it, but ya never know what ya might run into. research it..i wouldn't just get all the parts and dive in. pictures and a write up would be really nice to see if anyone has some or know where to get 'em. Good luck if ya go for it

Find a 1987 ford thunderbird turbo coupe (has the two holes in the hood) get the turbo motor out of that, with all the computer, fuel delivery and everything. probably buy the whole car for $1000 (they also had 5 speeds) I would try to avoid turbo, I would look into a supercharger first. the turbo lag will kill you offroad

if you have a 02 or newer, the supercharger off the new neons will bolt right on, or so ive read

currupt, i have a 95 yj....so that sucks. i wonder what the differences are in the motors that will be a problem?

i think its just the fact that the newer ones computers are more advanced, screw the supercharger i dont need to break any axles

Air Tank!!!

the supercharger off the new neons will bolt right on
The SRT/4 is turbocharged

i think its just the fact that the newer ones computers are more advanced, screw the supercharger
you don't NEED computer adjustments to run a supercharger... no different than running a turbo, the motor knows no difference... it just has to have the extra fuel to make up for the extra air coming in...

now for the big question... why does anyone NEED that much power? go N/A and keep it simple and inexpensive... Honestly, I don't think ANY offroad vehicle has ANY need for a blower... if you have a 4.0, stroke it... if you have a 2.5, replace it... and if you know that power isn't everything... get gears... you can have all the torque you want

just a quick question about gearing. i was thinking about it and i am probably wrong, but will lower gears mean terrible gas mileage?

each combination has a "sweet range"... depending on tire size, power, power range, torque, fuel economy... bla bla... lower gears COULD give you better gas mileage... but if you go TOO steep, you'll be spinning too fast.... basically, for fuel economy, you want the gears which will allow you to drive at the lowest rpm possible without dogging at all
