Tire size for BDS lift.

RE: Soft top rules!!!!!!!

I think I'm gonna end up putting the 3" BDS lift on my CJ and I was curious about tire sizes. I was curious if the D30 and AMC 20 with one piece shafts and 3.07 gears would be alright with 32's or 33's. I know I'll be able to fit them but will 31's give me better articulation and better street manners, or just look retarded.

RE: HYD. CLUTCH BLEEDS DOWN

I'd go with the 33" tires for a good looking setup. The tires won't really affect articulation, but you'll want to ensure your bumpstops are setup correctly to keep the tires out of the fenders.

Onroad manners should be similar, but you'll be geared a little tall for the 33"s.

RE: 35s of my jeep?

As bounty said, go with the 33's. I will tell you that I just switched from 3.07s to 4.10s on 33's and it made a world of difference. Its amazing what proper gearing will do for you.

It will be easier to live with the 31s on the street if you're going to be running the 3.07s. Offroad will suffer too with the 3.07s and big tires, but you can just do like alot of people do and rely on low-range to crutch the mismatched diff ratio when wheeling.

I'd go with 33s and just deal with it until you can swap gears. That is, if you have a manual transmission. You won't have quite as much of a problem off idle as the same Jeep with a 4.0 would. The low rpm torque production of the 258 makes it a little easier to live with taller gears, and like I said, the good low range in the D300 will help alot offroad until you can swap.

As always(whether you want to admit it or not) the looks are important too. A CJ fits 31s factory. Yours will be lifted 3" and it's got narrowtrack axles......that looks kind of funny on short skinny tires
Stability is also a concern with lifted narrowtracks. Ignore the skinny rim fans----you need wide rims with minimal backspacing, and the wider 33s will do better for this than a set of 31x10.50s.
