Sway bars???????

I was comming home earlier and I took the dirt road home. There is a little side wall that borders some parts of the road. I climbed up on the hill in 2wd and when I tried to come off I took too sharp of an angle. My stock suspension was flexed out to the max and even in 4lo I was stuck. I was able to rock it out but this spaked an interist. Would it be safe for me to disconnect my sway bars and still drive it on road with the stock suspension. I know it would give me a little more flex and allow me to tackle bigger obstacles but would it be too dangerous to drive on road. I hear that doing this with stock suspension makes it too tippy? Is there any truth to this rumor/fact????

I don't have any anti-swaybars on my CJ, it's fine. I'll run disconnects on the TJ, because of the car springs and the fact that my wife drives it some.

Take it off and see how you like it. If you're worried about it, make or buy some quick disconnects. Then you can run it on the street and unhook it for offroading, then hook it back up to hit the road again.

What model jeep?

I removed the front swaybar and rear trackbar from my YJ long ago, does just fine without them. It's personal preference and not for everybody, so experiment.

I'll probably give it a try. It should be ok until I get my lift up under there, then with some stiffer springs it should be ok. Its a 93' YJ Wrangler.

Just drive it like it's a Jeep with no sway bar!!! I took my sway bar and both trac bars off of my YJ (with it lifted about 9 inches) and it was fine. I just didn't drive it like it was a Lamborgini...

When I had mine off my YJ (4" lift, 32's) I loved it - until I drove in some winds that remained from a tropical storm :shock: I put it back on and made some home made disco's.

It could be debated all day long, but if you choose to go that route know it's limitations and drive accordingly.

I busted a swaybar disco and am currently running my XJ (4" lift, 31's) with no swaybar, it's great but I plan to get a new set of disco's in January (I'd make a set but the stock links are too short)

Well I took them off this morning and I dont really notice any difference on the road. It does however make a huge difference off road, the stock suspension flexes a whole lot better. Eventuallt when I get mmy lift under there i'll put some disco's on there. Thanks for all the info.
