Steering Wheel

Okay, first off, I'm lazy  . I don't want to look this up, and thought that you guys could help me better anyway. My steering wheel is off center. When the wheels are straight the steering wheel is turned to where I can't see my dash b/c of the bar. Basically its getting annoying looking around the bar to see what my speed is. Just wanted to get advice on taking the wheel off, and straightening it.

You put a lift on and now the steering wheel is crooked, right. Well, you have to adjust the drag link to fix it. The drag link is the bar that goes from the pitman arm down to the tie rod or knuckle. There is a threaded sleeve and two bolts that hold it tight. Loosen the bolts then adjust the sleeve outward until your steering wheel is straight.

TJ door guard thingys on a YJ?

Thanks rooster. I don't think I'll be able to try it this week though, with the outer effects of Frances already here. We get rain all week, should make for some good sloppy mud after it's all said and done though. Thanks again.

What rooster said. I find it's easier to lengthen the draglink with a pipewrench. Remember to not disconnect any tierod ends, just loosen the clamps on the draglink. And don't forget to leave the steering wheel unlocked in the column.
