starter question

Lately when I start my jeep it screetches real loud. It is not the initial sound of the engine starting but a second after it starts up it screeches. The past week it has been getting worse with a new screeching sound but now it only does it every once in a while. Is this a bad starter? If so, how come it only does it every once in a while. Thanks guys.

Sounds to me its your serpitine belt. Check your belts for tightness and wear. There is some products at your local parts store for screeching belts as well.
