Maybe it can help some of you. I had some sputtering problem with my jeep
. First I had an air leak in the CCV valve tube. So I replaced the tube. The second problem was water in my tank. I pumped out some gas in a clean container to find out that my tank has a lot of dirty water in it. It could be from condensation but I found something else when I removed the tank to work on a bumper project. The gasket between the tank and the sending unit (gas pump) was destroyed. I started to have more sputtering problem after getting stuck in the water a while ago. That would explain the water in the tank. I found on the DMV web site a recall for that gasket on my Jeep. I own an YJ, 94, 2.5L, 5sp. So if anyone has some similar problem… It could be one of those. Problem solved! Hope to help someone. :wink:
