i have an '88 YJ and i was wondering if there was any limits to what kind of radio i could put in it... also, is it possible to replace speakers without modifying the dash? i cant find any speakers the same size as the stock ones...

You can fit all DIN size radios, for the dash your just gonna have to stick with 4 x 6 w/o modification. Get you a sound bar

I forget what size the stock speakers are in there...but I know when I got mine I had no trouble getting some the same size. Just go down to a local stereo shop and they should be able to get something for you.

Like TJ Jeep said any regular DIN size head unit will fit right in there

if they are 4*6 wal mart sells them.they run around $45.

I fit 5.25 in my dash but i have a tj not sure if there is a difference in the dash where the speakers are mounted.All i did was use a piece of sheet metal cut it out for the 5.25 speaker and bent it some to fit the existing bracket.Also stuffed some pillow filling behind the speaker to try and stop the noise cancellation from not have an actual box.I do have a sound bar sound great for the people in the back.Next i am making some boxes for 6*9 to mount to the side roll bar facing the front seats.

If you keep the top off your jeep most of the time , i would suggest a Marine type radio..

Get a marine radio - something with MP3 would be a plus. Take your time getting speakers, there are a bunch of options
