Lifting more... Driveline concerns

I want more lift, AAL springs have settled under the weight of the bumper/tire carrier/spare.

The question, How high can I go without adjusting the driveshaft angle? I was thinking of getting 2.5" lift springs which means my jeep would be about 1.5 higher than it was right after the SOA and AAL.

So would 1.5" or even 2.5" affect it? BTW i have a Tom woods CV shaft.
Thanks

You may get away without any vibes, but you also need to ensure the rear driveshaft is long enough and won't overextend at the splines. Have you considered 1.5" springs or having yours rebuilt? Springs can be rearched here locally for just under $60 a pack.

as for vibes, you can always shim, thats an easy task... but for driveshaft length, like bounty said, that may be an issue

I don't think you are supposed to shim the axle (and thus change the pinion angle) when you're running a CV driveshaft? Don't the pinion angle and the TC yoke need to be parallel?

I would wait and just get 3" lift springs, that way you'll be lifted plenty and you KNOW you'll need a longer DS.

no you're talkin, youve got roughly 5.5 w. the SOA right? with more springs you're gonna be sky high man

Too high is not a good thing.

Shims may be needed after he adds lift, to bring the pinion back parallel with the driveshaft.

Well when I did my SOA I put an AAL in the stock packs, which gave me another inch or so after they settled. But now they settled more due to the wieght on the rear of the jeep. So I would at least like to get the rear back up to the height I had it. I know I could get away with 1.5 inch lift springs cause the driveshaft was measured on a fresh lift before the AAL settled. The 2.5 inch lift springs would just be nice giving me about 8 inches of suspension lift total... which I love since I still would have NO body lift at all.

I havn't thought about re-arching the springs I have, but I would think that they would eventually sag back down again. There is a really good spring place around here that made u-bolts for me, perhaps I should get thier view on this as well.

Oh and good point about stretching out the driveshaft too much, I didn't even think of that. I will keep that in mind.
