Is This Worth It?

ok I have been looking for a jeep wrangler yj recently and I found this one. This is exactly the guys post about the jeep says "1991 JEEP WRANGLER, 125K mi, ac, WRANGLER SAHARA, Auto w/ working air, 35K on New engine professional installed, CD & soundbar, Own an original Great Jeep for great price"
I think it sounds pretty good for that price down here in South Carolina. He is asking $4500 but if I really like it then I will probably ask 3500 or 4000. But do you guys think it sounds good? Here are some pics.

Its looks real clean from those pictures, but don't be afraid to climb under her and look or rust spots. The frame especially. If she's clean then offer away!

I agree it looks very clean... I paid more for my YJ and it had the 2.5L on it, so it does not seem too bad at all. Granted, my YJ is newer, but the engine on that one is new, and the interiors seem to have been redone in the pics. I would also check under the hood before offering, to make sure everything looks OK, and, as Utah mentions, check for rust in the frame...

I'd figure 4000 to 4200 is a fair price, looks to be in good condition. Climb around and look for oil leaks and rust though. Shake anything with a u joint in it and make sure the 4wd works.

sweet thanks for the great info guys! Now I atleast know what to look for. I am thinking of getting a 4inch rough country lift with 33 inch mickey thompson baja claws and detriot lockers in back and 410 gears in back also. You guys think that would be a good starting setup for this jeep?

You have to gear both ends, otherwise you'll blow the thing up. 4.10s with the 4.0 and 33's should work out alright.

Nevemind guys! I found a guy that will sell me a 1997 tj with a 4'Trail master lift and is a 4.0l inline 6, 5speed. It has dteriot lockers and he is selling it for $4900 becuase he has just street tires on there and no windshield or dash. But he was making it for a offroader but he got a new jeep. You guys think it is a good deal???? He is sending pics tonight. I will post them.

This one will depend on your usage... No windshield or dash would not work for me, but it may for you.

Windshield you can pick up, dash might be harder to come by. If it doesn't have the gauges and stuff still in it I wouldn't do it, it'll probably be a big headache.

Must be wither wrecked or highly modified to warrant pulling the dash out. Either way it may not make a good daily driver. Check it out and see. Also be leary of garage installed Detroits and gears. You kinda have to know what you are doing to set gears properly. There aren't just a whole lot of people who can do it right.
