How do i determine the transmission in my 82 cj7

I have an 82 CJ7 with the 258 and a reman carb no idea what carb it is would like to know how to determine this also has no stepper motor on it on the back side that i can see. My main question is the Vin number says it should be a 5 speed transmission according to a vin analyzer on a cj site ive seen but i have a 4 speed transmission in the jeep. Also how do i tell the transfer case thats in it im making some plans for doing some mods on the jeep and need this basic information.

You have either got a t-176 or a t4 transmission backed up by a dana 300 t-case. I hear the t-176 isnt a bad transmission but I think the t4 isnt all to good. The dana 300 t-case is better than the dana 20 thats for sure. Its got a slightly lower crawling gear and there are losts of parts made for it.
