i am thinking about locking my 4wd actuator or putting in 1 piece shafts. how bad would this hurt my gas mileage? also, how would i go about locking it and getting rid of those crappy vaccume lines? i was thinking about the hose clamp method. any input would be helpful.

It won't affect your mileage much at all, but you want to ensure your front driveshaft is balanced well.

You can remove the shift actuator from the axle housing, flip it over and install it upside down, and the shift collar will remain engaged.

do i need to disconnect the vac. lines when i flip it to keep it from activating when i shift into 4wd? is it really that easy???

It really is that easy. Stays locked very well, used to do this when my shift motor would stock working.

I would remove the vacuum harness at the axle and put caps on the vacuum ports to keek crud out of the disconnect. Plug the harness end as well.

thanks i will try that tomorrow on my lunch break. also will this mess up my t-case any?? i am new to the 4x4 world as i had a honda slowvic before. i just dont want to mess up anything since this is my daily driver for now.
