High tech twist on a old school mod!

Snitty--Does the Camaro have a single exhaust on it? Why?....is it a third gen(82-92)? The gasket blowing is probably due to poor quality gaskets/exhaust components or an uneven sealing surface. The thin little paper gaskets are unforgiving, if you are having problems with them switch to the "dead soft" aluminum type and prep the sealing surfaces. Check to make sure the flanges aren't distorting as the bolts are torqued down.....your problems should be over(other than being down on power from running too small of an exhaust).

The electronic cutouts would be fun at a stoplight....if you got the bite to back up the bark. It just seems like they would end up being a constant source of leaks after they get a little worn. How well do they hold up to being dunked in water and dragged through the mud? Are they still going to seal if they happen to get brushed up against a rock or log?

I know this isn't a Camaro message board, but what the hell! If you take two of the Kragen special gaskets and RTV them together then run some RTV around both sides and put it together it won't blow the gaskets anymore. I used to have that problem all the time. Much cheaper then the expensive crappy copper gaskets.

wow.. i never realized that i'm almost a month late for answering a question here... don't know how that slipped past me...

the exhaust is single 3"... routed just as a stock exhaust would be... but now... we deleted the muffler, and it is 3" to dual 2.5"... much better pressure situation than before

incredible flow.... high compression/blown engines must have very high flow to make up for the force of the exhaust

Accually, I never got around to putting them on! I ended up ebaying them a while back (i think in Nov) but on a turbo engine or aby engine that has a lot of boost, under race conditions, this will eleviate some of the exhaust pressure. They do not re direct the exhaust, simply give it two options of flow. still allows enought back pressure for optimal power.
