Dove Hunters?

Are there any dove hunters on here? The season opens tomorrow here. I don't think there are that many birds, but I'm going anyway. I have a new Benelli to try out.
What is your favorite choke to shoot doves with? I typically use a Mod, but I'm thinking about starting out with an ImpCyl tomorrow.

I went last week, our opener was the first of Sept. I didn't see a single bird. I usually shoot a mod when I hunt but a full when I go shoot clays to keep me on my toes. BTW, what Benelli did you get? I've got a Montefeltro that I love to shoot, it's a dream.

I used to go all the time but gave it up after my dad died. We (family) had about 340 acres down in Wilcox County, with about 200 acres of it in soybeans, it was great hunting. There are days when I really miss it but it just would not be the same without my dad.

I've got an old Winchester that was my grandad's. Full choke, 28 inch barrell, plastic butt pad. Not my choice for a day in the dove field.

I went this year and it was nuts the first weekend, bird from every direction. But my dad got me a new Remington Model 870 Express Mag for Xmas last night so I've been shootin that and I like it.

It was better than I thought it was going to be. I got 13 and didn't lose a single bird. Went again today and only got 4. They weren't flying well today.
The Benelli definitely shoots as good as it looks. It's great for the dove field, but the Beretta is going to go everywhere else.
Never shot a Winchester. I have dove hunted an Ithaca, Franchi, Beretta, Remington 1100 and Benelli. The 1100 is def the most user friendly and reliable, but also the heaviest. All are good guns though. It's getting to the point where it is hard to decide which one to take with me.
The Imp Cyl choke was the ticket. Several times I wish it would have been a Mod, but overall I think the Imp Cyl was the best choice.

I got an 870 when I was about 15 years old. Great gun, still one of my favorites to use. Believe me, it is a keeper!

I had an 870 Express Magnum as my first shotgun... my second shotgun is an 870 Express Super Magnum, I'm probably gonna be with Remington for a while. My mom's boyfriend has an 1100 that has been his only gun for as long as I can remeber, it has been run over by his 1979 F-150 and still works... he's got a cool barrel that is a muzzle loader barrel. it takes caps just like a muzzle loader and works with the firing pin and everything... I hope to inherit it some day (not too soon)

I have never heard of such a thing. Sounds cool. Got a name brand or anything like that. I am about to buy a muzzle loader.
Corrupt, did the checkering on your Benelli not eat your hands up the first time you hunted with it. They cut em sharp. Don't have to worry about losing grip, my hands had little diamonds all in them.

There are doves everywhere out here in Oregon. Can't get away from them. I mostly end up hunting Chukar and Pheasant and Quail, but doves every once in a while when we get bored running up and down hills.

I personally love using a little .410 for doves, but it does take a little more aim...

Otherwise I have a nice little 20 guage for small birds and my good old remington 12 guage for Pheasants.
