Does anyone have one of these winches? 9500# winch with a 5.5 horse/ 4.0 kw series wound motor, roller fairlead, 3 stage planetary clutch 90' of wire, with a 12' remote. Just would like to know if anyone has an opinion on this winch before I make my decision to buy it today. I know I can't get a warn for this price, but will I regret it later due to poor quality?? Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

I bought one at a tool sale for 80.00 with the rollers brand new and then spent another 100.00 for the control box and remote. I could not pass it up for the price. It seems to work alright for me, I try not to get to deep. It is not a Warn or other major brand but if you are like me, cash is pretty tight. I had it on my 89 GMC and just put it on my 72 CJ5. Is the one your getting coming from Harbor Freight? I seen on there just like mine for $299.00, you might check there. I think that cummins is the same brand that they carry. I know I will proably get some guff for using a cheaper winch but hey ya get what ya can afford.
Let me know what ya get.

Most of these bargain winches are 'made in China', that's why they are so cheap. The quality control is hit and miss, some are good and sometimes you get a lemon that will blow the motor and leave you stranded.

You get what you pay for, and your chances will be better with a US company with higher quality control. Like I said, it's hit and miss and if it's all that is in your budget, go for it. I probably would had I not gotten a deal on a used Warn.

Actually, there was a 8000lb Warn winch for $499 that L33TJ33P had posted here somewhere. I'll see if I can find it and re-post.

I saw this one at one of those truck load tool sales. It is Cummins Tools who is selling them. As for the Warn 8000, I was looking into those too, but this one is a 9500 with roller fairlead and 5.5 hp motor, which the warn 8000 does not. Just thought if this unit was good I could get a higher pull rated winch for the same price, and have the roller fairlead. Thanks! for the info, but the wife says I must wait until after we close on our house, which hopefully will be the end of this month.

I think for the money, you should check into the new Mile Marker electric winch. Somewhere around $400 for the whole getup. I rarely use my winch but when I do. I really need it to work. I don't want to be half way turned over hanging off the side of a cliff with a bargain winch. Do you?

P.s. If money is the issue then get a used Warn or Ramsey. Still better than some unheard of, made in China, winch.

The Milemarker electric for $400 is also a bargain 'made in china' winch, same as Ramsey's E8000, E for economical, hehe.

Don't trade relaibility and quality for a 1500lb. difference in load rating. The 8K Warn should do everything you need it to, everything a 9.5K can do on a jeep.
