Chrome Capped Lug Nuts 🤬

I hope whoever decided that this is the way to go steps in a puddle with socks on...

I felt it twist weird as I applied weight to the socket & tried to hammer it back into place but the damage was done... I went to the local auto place & grabbed the smallest stripped lug socket they had (for 17mm to 19mm & mine was 19mm with the chrome jacket) and applied some non-impact persuasion to try to remove it. Everything was going good & the reverse thread socket forced itself onto the stripped lug nut all the way. I slipped a pipe onto the breaker bar and... it just spun. I stripped it even farther 🤦🏽‍♂️

So, now my plan is to just hit it with my purse & take it to the local mechanic to see if he can get it. I ordered new SOLID lug nuts to prevent this from happening again...

I've never seen a lug nut strip out like that. Could you take a chisel and turn the nut?

A lot of modern vehicles have those stupid chrome lug caps. I bought my JK brand new and when I went to rotate the tires the first time one cap was missing and several came off. I complained to the dealer but they said it was my problem and they offered to sell me a new set of caps  Currently about half of my lugs still have the caps. Since without the caps it's takes a socket one size smaller I keep an old socket and ratchet in the jeep in case I get a flat.

Good job! Never saw one stripped so well. Drill out stud and replace the stud and lug.
Solid lugs scratch and then rust immediately. That was my experience.
