Brake confusion

I am working on the brakes for my 79 cj7 and Chilton says to bleed the brakes from the farthest away from the brake master cylinder to the closest. But 4WD magazine and the website says to bleed the cj from the front to set some proportional setting correctly. Which is it? I need a new brake line to the passenger front tire, it spits brake fluid all over the tire. I don't want to do this over and over.

It is a controversial subject.I have always done it closest to farthest.

I bleed the brakes from the closest to the farthest. The thoery behind this is that most of the air trapped on the closest point of exit will be able to bleed out before it travels to the longest line which is the farthest. However my rules of engagement changes depending on what new hydraulic component has been replaced. Also, bench bleed the component prior to installation. This will minimize the bleed time on the vehicle.
