Axles swap for 80CJ-5

need steering column / what fits HELP

OK, It is obvious I am going to need to get rid of the Dana 20 and possibly the Dana 30 if I am ever going to wheel this thing, so
let me ask this.

Are there any production vehicles that have... lets say Dana 44s that
I would be able to find to put new axles in this?
The vehicle would have to have the same wheel base or at least
VERY close. What are my options for axels.
This needs to be done on a budget, so I need to find a vehicle to pull
it out of, and get it from my Uncle's junkyard.

What do you think?

Scout Dana 44's would probably be the best option, and the most common swap.

No, well at least not on the computer yet. I am pretty sure I took some pics, but they are not developed yet. I keep the truck stored about 60 miles from my house, so its not that easy to just fly over there and take pics. I might go pay the vehicle a visit next weekend.
Its in really great shape. Runs darn good too, except on steap inclines.
Aside from 1 dent , its perfect.

I know lots of people that keep their model 20 and dana 30. Some say to go full floater on the model 20 and some say go 1 piece axles. I wouldn't dump them unless you are going larger than 33" tires. At least run them until you have problems.

Ya, I think avyoung is right. I am not going to bother with that whole mess until something busts.
There's no sense in it. Hey, maybe because the truck only 16K miles on it, I will get good life out
of the little diffs....
