Hey, I just bought a 90 yj in awesome shape with only like 67k on the 4.2.
What should I do performance wise. I def like to get some more power out of it, but not totally sold on swappin a motor, since its got tons of life left in it.
any options? also susspension. I'm not lookin to make some monster truck. and not wanting to run anything larger than 33's. What do you suggestion to get the most active suspension I can without going huge, and maintain good road driveability.
I also do not know what axles came stock in this year either, anyone?
gear ratios there too?
Alright, any advice is appriciated,
Thanks

Welcome to the Z.

The axles are Dana30 front and Dana35 rear, axle ratio should be 3.07 if you have the 5spd.

A good 4" lift kit will clear 33" tires and maintain good road manners. You would want to regear the axles lower to keep the engine operating in the proper power band. Swapping in a set of axles from a 4cyl 5spd YJ is a great affordable option, those are 4.10 geared and usually available used.
