87 Jeep Wrangler Shifting Gear Problems

When I start my jeep I can shift gears good but after i drive for a while shifting the gears and get n them to go all the way in is all most in possable does this sound like the clutch

Sounds more like the fluid.

what fluid should be in a man trans for a 87 jeep yj i had the seals replaced at a trans shop but the guy put atf back in the trans i thought that was wrong but i did not say anything because i thought he should know what he was talking about i am confussed?????

ATF? i think that trans. is too old for an ATF trans. fluid. More like an MT-90 by redline is what i would have thought should be in it.

Your transmission should have 90 wgt. gear oil in it, but the problem you are describing sounds like a clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder issue. And since yours is an 87 it pobably has an internal slave, if you are going to have to change that I would recommend changing out the whole clutch.

87-88 Had bad tranys but that sounds like a Hydo cluth issue.
