Okay so I was looking at my pare tire carrier because I am soon moving up to 33" tires. And I realized i could not currently mount a 33" tire back there! So I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if so how did you fix it?

You can fab up or buy an offset bracket to mount a larger spare. I just bought the one from Quadretec as I was leaving in a few days for CO and did not have time to fab one up.

Here's the one specific for my CJ. Search Results - Quadratec You will need to find the one for your Jeep.

Hope that helps...

A good fix for that is that adaptor that Razor1115 posted. The best fix would be a heavyduty bumper with the tire carrrier mount. This would keep the tire from destroying your rear gate due to its weight.

You can carry a 33 on the stock carrier, but you need to exten d the bump stops to stop the tire from moving and thus tearing the carrier from the tailgate. My Jeep has a 33 on the rear door carrier, and I have had no issues with it...

I have a 5 on 4.5 2" wheel spacer I will sell you to space out your spare tire. I used is years ago, it's been sittin gin the shop for at least 5 years

I already got one of those third brake lights that go in the center of the rim so I don't really need to worry about that part, but thanks for the write up!

I have a stock rim with a 33X9.50 on the stock carrier and bumper. I had to put the tire on with the tailgate open and it touches when closing but I didn't have to add any extensions or spacers.

Here's a pic of mine, with the bracket, and the extended bumpstops. It's important to extend the bumpstops; otherwise, the tire (as a result of vibrations and weight) will rip the stock carrier from tailgate.
