32" on a budget

I posted earlier and asked if my 32x12.50-15 baja claws would fit. the only reply i got was practically "absolutely not". well, they did so..... here is what i did.

2" longer shackles (6", added 1" of lift)
15"x7" wheels with 4" backspacing
trimmed the 1.25" lip off of my flairs

Everything fit and the only rubbing i am having is when i turn the wheel all the way. this was fixed by adjusting my steering stops.


NOTES: i am only driving this on the street until i get my 4" lift next month!!!! I cannot guarantee no rubbing offroad or with swaybars disconnected!!!I also will not be doing ANY offroading until I get my lift!!!

You didn't mention trimming your fender flares as being an option. I still stand by them not fitting on the rear with only a 1" shackle lift. YJ's have some pretty tight rear fenders.

You should consider installing TJ flares if you want good tire clearance without the hacked up appearance.

they dont look hacked at all but i do plan on lifting and doing front and rear tube fenders eventually. how do you post pics on here?????

i didn't mention the trimming as being an option but i did say that i was going to try it today and it worked.. trimming the fenders was pretty easy with the cutoff wheel and only took about 30 min to get them right. my flairs do look a little F...ed up but that is because my fender is slightly bent from a tree jumping out in front of me....

I'm glad you posted the last pics................I was lookin' at the first batch and thinking......"those are 32's????!?!?!" :shock: :lol: :lol: :lol: Then saw the last pics.......Looks GOOD!!! Nice trim job!!

thanx....they are actually 33s but the tread has worn down to about 32.25". they came off of my street queen (sisters) jeep after we put on the 33" all terrains. Not too bad of an upgrade for nearly free!!!(wheels i had laying around,tires were off of the white 90, cutting was about $10 for the cutoff wheel at pepboys.)

That line in the YJ flares makes for an easy trim line, doesn't it?

I think you'll still get a lot of rubbing with rear seat passengers or any axle articulation.

I'm digging the camo.

i am looking at either rough country or superlift, havent decided which one i want yet. the camo is just a vinyl wrap and it was on it when i got it. I bought the jeep from the place that does it and they said that they usually charge about $900 to wrap it. check with any local sign shop and they may be able to send you in the right direction on how to get it done.

i rode last night with a couple of buddies to the store, both weigh about 200 lbs and i went through my friends yard on the way (very rough and hilly) with no rubbing but articulation would cause it to rub.
