302 ford fit in my 89 yj.

i have a 89 yj manual trans mission. it has a 4 cylinder engine at this time. can i get a 302 ford fuel injected into this yj. do i have to get any mods for drive train.

Yes, the YJ has a long front end (thanks to the AMC folks) and the Ford will fit even being a little longer than the Chev small blocks. The guy who had my 3B ran a 302 in it with the stock T90/spicer18. He manage to twist the rear driveshaft off, my jeep is an oldie and has super low gears. These people should be able to hook you up. :arrow:

I really doubt the transmission behind your 4 cylinder (ax5) will hold up to even a stock 302. If it were me I would probably get a t18 and a 205 out of an older ford and just swap the whole drivetrain. And youve still gotta deal with getting the efi wired in and a fuel system to run it. It will cost money to do the swap and be time consuming. The good news is just like every other swap concieved of, it has been done in a jeep. And the guys on here are more than willing to pass along knowledge if you need it. Welcome to the forum and keep us posted on how it goes.

i think im just going to fix up the 4 banger less money and hassle. plus how much more power can i draw from the thing. its not a dragster it a jeep right.

Put a holley TBI kit on it and supercharge that lil' sucker. She'll have some gitty-up then.:shock:
