2 engine swaps!

So heres the rundown on my projects. I have a 99 TJ with 7 inch lift and 33's. It has the stock 1-6  . I also have a 1973 Nova with a 350. In the mail coming to be is a brand new 454 for my nova, so im thinking of putting the old 350 in my TJ. It runs great and doesnt leak. Would this be a good idea or is one engine swap enough? My jeep seems really underpowered and i hate to see a good 350 go to waste. Any tips or advice on either of these swaps would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah you may be underpowered cause your gears in combo with the tires. Swapping out a 99 4.0 for a 73 350 just doesnt seem like a good idea to me. I know a 350 is a great engine but 73 was a while ago (all you hippies get over it) and if your gonna go to the trouble of swapping out that great 4.0 might as well make it worth your while, something a little newer maybe. But two engine swaps is not enough.

I have 4.56 gears in the jeep

Geez bro. Your 4.56 and 4.0 should be quite enough. Holy crimeny. Remember too that your stock rear axle (unless a dana 44 or better) would need to be replaced. That 350 will snap a d30 like... like... I dunno. I got nothin'. :?

Is the 350 numbers matching? If that's the engine that came in that Nova from the factory, it would be more of a waste to put it in the Jeep than to just drain it, bag it up, and stick it in the corner of the garage until you get ready to sell the Nova. I'm not one of those resto type guys, but you have to realize the money involved in this. Can you imagine how much a clean, numbers matching 73 Nova will be worth in another 10 years?
Post a pick of the Nova man, that's one of my favorite cars.

flat fender or not to flat fender...that is the question.

actually i dont have a job. Im going to be a senior in high school this year, and the gas prices with my nova sre gonna kill me in college

I had a 350 in my '88YJ with stock D30/D35 axles, no breakage (surprisingly, unless you count blowing out the rear driveshaft on every wheel standing launch).

Emissions testing, if done in your area, would prevent you from installing any engine in the jeep that's older than the vehicle. Many emissions laws prohibit swapping in something that wasn't originally available in that vehicle, like going from the 2.5L to a 4.0L engine.

The 350 won't perform as well offroad if you leave it carbed, so you're looking at the extra expense of swapping it over to fuel injection to get performance at angles and reliability.

I'd leave the 4.0L alone, and regear to 4.88 if needed. What was your stock gear ratio and which transmission do you have?
