12K winch= bent frame?

Thanks Robert for turning me onto this forum; I've been so grateful for all the advice. I'm on my second TJ now and am really trying to do it right!

Question:

MM PE8,000 for $380 (4wheelonline)
VS
MM SE12,000 for $540 (ultimate truck and auto)

For an extra $160 and a mere 3-4 pounds the 12 seems like so much more for the $. Or, would that money be better off spent on 2 big batteries? Will I pull my rubicon apart with a 12,000lb winch?

You won't pull your jeep apart unless you improperly rig it to a stationary object while pulling another load. It's not uncommon to use a snatch block with an 8k which would give 16k in pulling force.

8k is plenty for a jeep IMO, I would either spend the money on the electrical system or stay away from MM and get a Warn.
