Just a shout out to my fellow Texans

My brother was a wrangler at a dude ranch outside of Bandera for awhile. Nice area.

Just a shout out to my fellow Texans

I live on the north side of the DFW Metroplex. I live across the street from Texas Motor Speedway (at least until the end of the month when I a moving into a new house in the country near here). Race weekends bite the big one but other than that it is a pretty good place to live.

    What's up Everybody

UNT Alum here. Always glad to see a fellow jeeper in the area. Seeing as you are from Texas you might want to also check out http://www.lonestarjeepclub.org/board/index.php they are a local Jeep club and a great bunch of guys. I just joined recently myself. Glad to see you here. Jeepz is a...

    Mountain jeep performance

The 4 banger gets a bad rep for being "an underpowered dog" but that is only true to an extent on the highway. As has been said, at lower speeds they have plenty of torque. The main thing to think about as has been mentioned is the set-up you plan to run. If you want to run anything bigger...

    window replacement,for soft doors

If you are really desperate and the upper skins are shot anyway (because they are one piece with the canvas and clear plastic) you might go get a piece of plexiglass cut to the exact shape of the opening with about 1" of overhang all the way around. Then get some snaps and put snaps on the...

    window replacement,for soft doors

I have never seen just the window part, only the upper door skins for sale. On my 02 TJ the window is sown to the upper skins across the bottom of the window. Here is a link for the upper skins. They are pricey though. I would troll craigslist and e-bay if I were you. Good luck! Bestop...

    4cyl towing capabilities

I like that trailer but they should have gone with the tent mount on the top, raised the sides about a foot, that way you could load stuff on the bottom and not have to unload everything from the trailer to open the tent. Wonder if you could swap the tent to the top very easily?

    4cyl towing capabilities

My Dad towed a medium size pop-up with his 83 CJ7 with the I6. It did fine but there were a few times on some steep downgrades that it got a little hairy. Back to the 4 banger, have you considered a small trailer with a car top tent mounted on it? Basically same effect as pop-up but your...

    Winch Question

Sounds good guys. Thanks for the replies. I will just keep trolling craigslist. They pop up there periodically. No way I can justify 1000 bucks for a winch right now. I don't even do any off-roading with the jeep right now. I save that for my land rover discovery as it is 14 years old and...

    Gear swap questions

Well I have crawled under and the tag is missing. The diff cover is stamped and it is a Dana I am just not sure if it is a 30 or 35. There is a number stamped under the Dana emblem that is 43225. If this helps anyone please let me know. I do have the manual transmission so I am guessing they...

    Gear swap questions

Sorry if this is a subject often beat to death but I couldn't really find what I wanted to know so.......right now I have stock axles with factory gearing. I am running 31" tires. All the charts I can find seem to point to a 4.11 gearing as optimum for my set up. How hard is this to do? Do...

    Winch Question

Would a 3000lb warn winch with a snatch block be sufficient for my 2002 TJ? The reason I ask is that I can get one today for 50 bucks. While I realize that 3000lb is not quite enough I didn't know if it would work for the time being with the snatch block which would essentially make it a...

ADVICE. 1000 mile road trip, just a little concerned.

Just a few things I am sure you have already thought about but I always make sure I carry; a dependable flashlight with spare batteries, a spare serp belt, and at least a gal. of water and antifreeze. And of course a basic tool kit.

Not Death Wobble, but what is it?

On my land rover I run akebono ceramic brakes and they have virtually no dust whatsoever and have held up well. Alot of guys I know just run ceramics from Autozone or NAPA. I just bought my jeep so I haven't had to swap them but when I do I plan to go with the akebono's. Just my $.02

    Plastic Bumper ends

Mine came with aftermarket front and rear bumpers that do not have the end caps but are wider than the original without the end caps so they run out in front of the wheels a little more but without the cheap (in my opinion) end caps. I like them better without as well so lookin' good! 8)

Not Death Wobble, but what is it?

If it is due to rotor warp (and it sounds like it is) as long as they are still thick enough you can just have them turned and replace your brake pads and there you go. Nice smooth braking. But just be aware that depending on how warped they are or if they have been turned before that may not...

    New Here

Hey Guys, I am new here but not to forums. At the risk of being booed outa here I am a 1996 Land Rover Discovery I owner also. I used to own a 1981 Limited Edition CJ7 with carpeted hard top with an AMC I6 until a lady ran a stop sign, hit me, and totaled it. Sure do miss that Jeep. So I...
