    thx for the optomism.... i was just hoping i could end up riding on 4 instead of 3! i bought a dremel, and a new tap. gonna give the grinding a whirl, i wanna avoid cutting the plate if at all possible. in my opinion, that's the worst case scenario.

    thanks for the input guys. i dont have a welder, but do have air tools. i used motor oil on the drill bits and they still broke. mike, how small can i get a rotary file? the bolt hole is 5/16"

    joopin, yeah i could definately give that a try. use the dremel to make the hole and try the easy outs. i first tried to drill the tap out. broke 2 bits :-) all in a days work.

    i was tapping the upper rear shock mounts on my xj after i broke the bolt heads. the tap broke in the hole. there is NONE sticking out that i can grab with vice grips or anything. after a ton of swearing, i'm riding on 3 shocks. here's what i'm thinking i can do.... 1) take a punch and...

    just a thought, but cps? when mine went, my gauge cluster wasn't getting power, and my lights came on just fine. i dont know if a cps is likely to go while you're driving tho.

    RE: Manual Hubs if its never been offroaded, then the first thing you need to do is offroad it. def get some recovery front(either a drawtite front hitch or some rusty's brackets/hooks) and rear(class III hitch). and then the lifting begins........

    TJ rear tow hook

    RE: Manual Hubs as the subject says. hook only, dont have the hardware. not 100% sure, but i think this is only for a 97+. I had it on my 97XJ but got a hitch. never used it to pull with. normal wear of course. lookin for $15 plus shipping.

    checked the engine and mounts, doesn't seem to be coming from up there. the mounts are solid and the engine isn't moving around in them much, if any at all. what else could i check to narrow this down?

    TOP DOWN!!! saurian, thanks for all the help. i had a feeling it had something to do with climate control as it shared the wiring to the AC part. guess i'll have to go by auto zone and see if they have it.
