What have you done to search for the problem? How long has this problem been going on? Have you changed the oil and filter recently? Is the oil level low? Any new leaks that you've noticed? Feed us some more information so we can better help you.

That sounds like an excellent idea! I know of plenty of Jeeps that are missing at least one bolt on the transmission skidplate/crossmember b/c of that problem. The thicker wall is a good feature. You've got interest here!

Have you done anything to the spring bushings? If they're the factory 1995 rubber bushings, they're likely disinegrating and in need of replacement. Polyurethane bushings are a good replacement and are available from many sources and manufacturers (Prothane, DayStar...).

I'm inclined to agree with 90 about the possibility of it being a sealant or an additive to the gasoline. IF gasoline does gel, it should only start to gel at VERY cold temperatures. Diesel? Oh yeah... that'll gel.
