32's too heavy for the tailgate?

Something to keep in mind, the TJ tailgate hinges were engineered to be more robust than the YJ tailgate hinges. Therefore, the TJ hinges are able to carry the added weight of larger tires better than the YJ hinges. Either way, ezwrangler, check the hinges and sheet metal every couple hundred...

    Winch Capability: 2000lb winch + Jeep Yj = ?

Regardless of the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow, be it European or African, a 2,000 pound capacity winch won't cut the mustard on any Jeep (except maybe one of those kid-size battery-powered plastic Jeeps). For those with a lot of time on their hands, and for those that wish to be...

    yj shackle replacement

I've read of that trick before. Whoever wrote it mentioned to drill a series of holes in the bushing all around the bolt. That should make it easier to remove the bushing, in turn, making it easier to remove the bolt.

32's too heavy for the tailgate?

I've heard that 31" is the maximum tire size to put on a YJ tailgate. Anything larger than that and you could be ordering new hinges within a few hundred miles of driving. I also like the look of the bumper mounted tire carriers, but not the price... too much for my bank account!

    noob from pc beach

When you're working on the Herculiner project, make sure to spend a LOT of time on the prep work. I've read time and time again that the final result is in direct relationship to the amount of preparation (sanding, cleaning, masking, etc.). Those that skimped on the preparation paid for it...

    Steering Damper???

If the puller, BFH, or a combination of the two don't work for some reason, consider using heat from a torch in addition to the aformentioned methods. Good luck to ya!

    Alarm ideas

:agree: I've got the Tuffy boxes... among the first investments I made on my YJ. Not only do they look good, but they are very well designed and manufactured. When the money becomes available, a between-the-seats Tuffy console will be next. Those kill switches are also a good idea, and...

    poly fuel tank questions

If you're able to talk to the previous owner, find out from them firsthand. Not all aftermarket poly tanks are capable of being converted to 20 gallon. The capacity of the tank should be stamped into the exterior (usually on the top). If you decide to drop your tank, be wise and have as...

    YJ frame

Wow! I wish my '93 YJ frame looked like that when I took my Jeep apart! For those that may be interested, what price/trade are you asking for this frame? Where is it located (Ohio?)?

    Stroke of bad luck

I saw this TJ late last week with a new (used?) soft top, but nothing else on the exterior replaced. Good thing the new top was put on recently... we've had heavy rains the past two days.

    trailer lights

Before I took posession of my YJ, the previous owner had spliced the trailer wiring harness into the tail light wires.... no plug-n-play setup like the one you've ordered from Napa Auto.

    Several (related) Steering Problems

Did this happen before the new rods and ends? If not, check closely to be sure the rods and ends aren't getting hung up on something (look for exposed bare metal on one or more surfaces). Otherwise, going off of what you've described, my guess would be the steering gear box. There is likely a...
