    Steering Stabilizer Install

Make sure the wheels are clean with no buildup of dirt (from the earlier pictures they appear clean). A buildup of dirt on the inside of the wheel can cause an out-of-balance issue, and lead to the vehicle wobbling. Have your wheels/tires balanced. Drive around a while after that to see if...

    Help!

So I took a look at some pictures of the 1988 Mazda 323 GTX.... ummm.... good luck with your conversion to RWD. At this point I'd suggest removing the drive shaft(s) to the front wheels to achieve RWD. Just make sure you're still able to steer that puppy! An AWD transfer case is different...

    just bought a 88 cherokee

When you pull up that carpet to check the rust damage, if the metal still feels solid (as in you can't put your hand through it) go ahead and apply an anti-rust coating. Use a wire brush to remove any loose rust particles, and clean the area. I used Eastwood Co.'s Rust Encapsulator on my...

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

That looks like a very sweet setup. The wider stance should help out on the trails, as well as give more peace of mind for when the family is riding along. Good luck with the rest of your installs, and finding somebody to make that cage for you. Now go play!

    95 Grand Cherokee....stalling

Have you checked your distributor at all? If the distributor cap is cracked there can easily be problems. Check for moisture on the interior of the distributor. Make sure the points in the distributor are still good, as well as lacking carbon buildup or other corrosion. Check the wires...

    disc brake convert

If the new D30 will be your front axle, the brake calipers should, directionally, be on the rear of the rotors (on the side closest to the firewall). For rear disc brakes the caliper should, directionally, be on the front of the rotor (on the side closest to the seats). You may have to move...

    Hello!

Hi, Scott! It's quite a surprise to see somebody else from Ephrata on here. I moved away from there last August and try to get back once per month. You'll enjoy the group on this forum. It's a real wealth of knowledge and a bunch of friendly folks. Your wheeling picks look great... I've...

CJ7 won't start after 6 months of not using it

You'll have to remove the timing chain cover and visually check the chain marks. With the timing chain "jumping", that means that the chain has lifted off the gear teeth and then re-set on the gear teeth in a different location. The chain will often re-set itself a few gear teeth away from the...

    Minor Adjustments

The 4.0L inline 6 cylinder engine is known for having the valve cover gasket leak at the rear (firewall end), and can make it look like a rear main seal leak. Try replacing the valve cover gasket first, cleaning the oil that has already leaked, then moniter the oil leak area.

needed a 99 cherokee passenger wheel bearing

That noise is likely from the bearing. As far as how long it will take to remove it... that all depends on how easily it will come out of the steering knuckle. Just be patient, and use well placed hammer strikes. When you go to install a new bearing, apply a layer of anti-sieze to the mating...

    Scout Axles, Narrow track CJ7

Glad to hear your project is moving along. Have you run into any problems with the brake conversion and shortening the front axle? If you've got pictures to post, we'd enjoy seeing them. How soon until you get to drive your CJ out of the shop?

    Samurai bikini top on CJ?

It looks as though the samurai top could be promising. By the looks of it, you're going to have to decide if you want the empty space not covered by the top to be at the windshield, or over your head at the seats. I'm not a big fan of being rained upon while driving. Ultimately, it's your CJ...

    Samurai bikini top on CJ?

Be sure to place those hooks into a sturdy ceiling joist, and not into drywall alone (bad things happen that way!). Thanks for the kudos on the YJ project. It was a lot of pain, aggrivation, and money spent... but definately worth it in the end! Good luck on your fitment test 8)

    Samurai bikini top on CJ?

Give it a try. If it doesn't fit, then it doesn't fit and you'll be able to advise others down the road. If it does fit, then be sure to take pictures and share with us! Should the top not fit, you may be able to sell it and then buy a top that fits your CJ7.
