    Another 'noob' question

no... whats cool is when you try to fold it all up and blast down a desert powerline road and end up with your top unfolding and flailing like superman's cape! hehehe... would've been embarassing on a public road! ;o)

    Another 'noob' question

i always just folded the side curtains and put them behind the rear seat... the rear window rolled up and held with the elastic snap straps to the rear bar and folded down... folded the top part up and tucked it in behind the rear seat under the bar.... you'll get the hang of it... dont have a...

    Can't reverse my '89 Wrangler

always check clearances first i.e. shifter boot, crud, etc...(simple) b/4 tearing it down (difficult) and if it sat that long could be crud got in the linkage also....clean clean clean first and hopefully it'll fix itself (may be wishful thinking but what the heck... the glass is half full right!)

    hmmmmmmm

sorry... gotta chime in here... had a bud in hi-screwl that had a I-6 maverick he tried to make sound "bad" - always ended up sounding like a bad garbage truck - work the exhaust for power, not sound - epa legal header, cat-back exhaust, intake work, heck... get the head work done... spend the...

    Lock it up

dont mean to pirate the post but i wanted to lock up my front and rear (30 and 35) lincoln style - i dont weld but need to know how to do it (the shop where i work can do it easy) - any directions out there? can it be done "driveway style" i.e. w/the carriers in the axle? and what is the...

    35's...

any SWB vehicle wont feel "safe" at 80MPH - gearing notwithstanding .... your enginge rev's wont have any affect on how twitchy a jeep feels at 80.... my advice... slow down.. dont be in a hurry to die... mother nature ensures you will eventually anyway... dont help her along!

converting CJ to power brakes (yj parts)

the hose you speak of is probably a breather to keep the axle vent out of water, muck, etc (high, protected area of jeep) and yes... the booster runs off the manifold with a check valve at the booster (the "L") that maintains some boost if the engine dies.... hope it helps!

go 4"w/the 32 or 33's - 32x10.5" will fit stock rims better - i ran the 4" pro comp on my old 91 (yikes) and my 89 has the hell creek - no swaybars, no trackbars, no bumpstop extensions, no problems - go w/the 4" lift and you'll have room to grow - dont spend the money and time twice.... if...

    What is this? Help!!

not too bad to r/r that seal (check your manual) - pull the shaft, remove the old seal, tap in the new one - had to do it when i blew out a tailshaft on my old 91.... just takes patience - dont rush... and make sure you top off the xfer case (always open the fill b/4 the drain - nothing worse...

    another locker question

yes... with the disconnect youre effectively (sp?) making it an open dif - especially in 2wd - the drive shaft floats in the xfer case - and when under power in 4wd - so the pass. side gets no power when tight turning - so you basically end up w/3wd hi/lo w/the disconnect disengaged... and when...

    Lock it up

with the stock disconnect in the front axle still in place, use a manual cable type disconnect to engage/disengage for tight turns and streetablity and either spool it or "lincoln locker" - the rear you can spool or loc-rite (now if i just could get myself around to doing it! hehe!!)

    New Soft top

Bestop Supertop - has all the hardware, the one on my old 91 lasted for YEARS w/no problems - velcro, no snaps - can get w/tint but ya need full steel doors or replacement uppers (curved, not squared at the top rear of door uppers) - worth the $$$

gotta throw in my usual "Hellcreek" plug (4" ONLY!!!) www.hellcreeksuspensions.com but even if youre running 31's get the 4" lift now (ran 32x11.5's on my old 91 w/4" lift and wasnt disappointed...) - the bigger tires can come later - i run 33's now w/little scuffing (read: negligable just at...

    35's...

fast as you want in a straight line - its those pesky little emergency avoidance maneuvers and "oops! theres my turn" things that will cause the most problems.... seriously - hiway speeds (legal) will probably be okay... you just have to anticipate your turns and watch the offramp speed postings...

    New water pump info?

no... i have an 89 w/serp...(hence cant find an ac compressor) - they came w/both,... best option is to go w/your old one (if possible) and compare - often there are fittings that have to be transferred from the old pump to the new one... havent changed the one on my 89 but have swapped a few in...
