    Lifting

okay... make me chime in to defend the bfg m/t's - had AT's on the old jeep for almost 5yrs - the 33/12.5 MT's i have on my 89 now are 2 yrs old and show VERY little wear running an average 25psi on street... (less than 1/4 tread gone or so...) so i cant complain about my treadlife at all...

    Lifting

not sure about the front on a RE lift but i tossed front trakbar on the Hellcreek 4" lift about a year ago and no problems - sway bar is also history - NOT a recommendation just a commentary - you can always experiment with the track bar by by disc. sway bar and the trakbar (at the axle side)...

    Hard starting when hot...

Okay... just went thru and R/R'd the entire ignition (cap/rotor/wires/coil/module) as my jeep decided it didnt want to take me to my destination twice in two days... (funny sight being towed home behind a 90 Accord = can be done tho!) anyway.. one problem i had b/4 this ordeal was hard starting...

    broken bolt in frame.

x2 (popular these days...) the craftsman xtractors - seem to work better than the easy - outs (break less) dont forget to soak with a good penetrating oil like pb blaster to help your cause.... g'luck!

    Rear

was gonna recommend steve's jeep fab at www.stevesjeepfab.com but checking his web site it seems he doesnt do tire carriers like he used to (you can e-mail him and ask - he and his wife are pretty good at getting back to ya...) i really like the quality of my rear bumper and the price is right...

    Bodywork Questions From A Newbie

ditto on the herculiner - i brushed/rolled mine on about a year ago and the only peel is where I DIDNT PREP WELL!!! the stuff is awsome when done right - prep with the scotch brite (buy extra pads), clean, repeat and when you THINK youre done... do it again... 90%of the result comes from prep...

Need advice.Thinking about buying a used jeep.

miles kill it - if you want to keep it for a while and eventually rebuild the drivetrain (how big a project you lookin for?) - also I personally hate the automatics - i tell anyone who asks - go I-6 with 5 spd - more reliable, more control - and like rooster said - 1500 is about all i'd go for...

    Just for fun

i'm running 33x12.5 and pretty happy w/the desert "jeep" trails i play on - 35's w/a 4" lift may net you some rub on the rear wheel openings if you flex well (i have some w/the 33's) - also the rims you use will impact the tire size you can run - wouldn't want to go much more than 11.5 wide...

    YJ rear towpoint

the bumper i bought from stevesjeep fab has two tabs (one on ea/end) that go under the frame rail - look and see - you'll find two threaded holes there at the end of the rails - add some pcs. of angle that can be tied into your bumper to add some additional strength to the snatch point -...

    Safety in a CJ

just dont forget you need a bar across the back at shoulder height if you want to mount a 4pt. harness... cant mount it to the floor

    Steering Stabilizer???

okay... 37" tires... not small... got a little bit of rotating mass going on there... making for some serious gyroscopic effect... you take two of them and spin them at 50 mph or so and kick one... of course theres gonna be some affect on the handling... thats why i'm going back to the damper...

    Safety in a CJ

make with the belts (cant imagine driving a jeep w/o at least a shoulder belt) and brakes (lots of aftermarket out there) - dont even think about airbags - too many sensors and such - cant imagine any aftermarket retrofit being affordable AND reliable.... i'd imagine they'd do more harm than...

    Backfiring 4.0, 91 YJ

91... should be fuel injected.... the only "rich" scenario could possibly be a bad injector or 'puter glitch - check the exhaust - if it has a problem it could trap unspent fuel in the exhaust and then "boom" - the rumble on downshifting (reminiscent of a glasspack) makes me suspect an exhaust...

    Steering Stabilizer???

if you've run out of debugging driveline angle vibes and are sure its the stabilizer the you should look for a twin shock setup like you see on bigger trucks running that (monster) size tire... no real experience here just my $.02 (and just sux not getting a response!)

    Deeper sound

go flowmaster if you must but you really need to wrap your head around the fact that only "V's" will sound good - posted on another thread how my bud tried to sound up his old I-6 maverick and it always ended up sounding like a garbage truck - the best you'll end up with is the sound of those...
