So if the model numbers on two transfer cases are the same. Does that mean the two are the same and they are good to be swaped? I finally got my cousin to check the model number of the t-case on my jeep and its a 231j so the one on ebay claims to be 231j aswell. Would it work for me?

Well i checked with the guy on ebay selling a t-case and he said it had a 23 spline input and tht it would fit but i guess he is just trying to sell or something. But then i dont know if a can change the input shaft between that one and my broken one.plus for the one who replyed just before me...

yea thats the thing that was wrong with mine i just wasnt sure what it was called so i didnt want to be wrong. but the bolts were just loose and all i had to do was tighten them.

i was wondering if i was to get the t-case i found on ebay(link previously posted), and if it happened to have a 23 spline input if i could maybe replace it with the 21 spline input shaft of my original t-case, in order for it to fit??? thank you

Besides vac leaks, also make sure that all bolts and screws that put together the throttle system are tight, i had a similar problem and could not find any vac leaks, and it ended up being that, apparently they got lose with vibration.

by any chance does a t-case form a 6 cyl. fit, by the way my jeep is a 97 wrangler 4 cylinder 5-speed manual. or if any one knows the any different t-case i can put... i found one online and it says "1997-2001 Jeep Cherokee & Wrangler Transfer Case 231J" would it fit??? thank you

hey every one, i was wondering if anyone knew of a place were i can find a transfer case that is not too expenssive. i called many yunk yards, but i cant find any, (they are jeeps, they dont break that often), so if anyone has an idea let me know. thank you

Yea i think thats what happened. And yes i just figured out that it can be catastrophic. It literaly tore apart the TC to the point were i now have to pieces of it and i can see inside of it. Good thing my phone has signal here.

The trasfer case on my 97 wrangler just broke into two pieces as i was driving. Im not sure why it did but as i was driving on I10 it just poped and as it did is as if it had gotten in nuetral. So i just wanted to know if their was a possible way of moving something so i can at least move it...

well thats what they told me but the truth i dont think so!!! i havent fixed it yet,,, plus like a week ago the water pump broke down too so im just going to have to keep it like that for a while until i get money to fix it... i was also thinking of an engine swap!!!

just today i trien to play mechanic and took of the fuel injectors. well i took of the fuel rail with the injectors attached to it. once off i had the great idea of turning on the key to see if the injectors would spray gas while they were off. so i did but i dindt even connect the harness on...
